 DESCRIPTION

Tisli truly fell in love with Isli. Unfortunately, their parents were against their marriage. Crying all day long, Tisli and Isli finally filled with their tears the two lakes close to Imilchil Moroccan town, which is why they now bear their names. Since then, all of the high Atlas villages get together once a year to celebrate a huge moussem. Mixing fair and souk, the party goes on for three days and three nights long. Young people hang around in small groups, looking for their soul mate. On the second day of the moussem, newly formed couples present themselves to the crowd, being carefully watched over by the governor of the region. Eventually, and far from the crowd’s curiosity, the different families get together to celebrate the union according to their elders’ rites. Then everybody goes to the banks of Isli and Tisli lakes to ask for the protection of the Imlichil lovers. People sing and dance to thank the holly benefactors for the prosperity they will give to the newly-weds.
