 DESCRIPTION

We are in the Moroccan High Atlas mountain. Half way to the extinct volcano stands Amassine, a little village located straight after a bend. Morocco’s most beautiful carpets are made in this very lost area, by the women of the village. Each house has its own adjoining where spouses weave the wool of the sheep which were reared in the high plateau. Not far from the houses, children walk themselves through the surrounding country, looking for flowers and roots from which they will obtain the most wonderful colours. Yellow, blue or crimson, picked here or imported from Orient, those natural colouring agents are typical of Aït Khouzouma shimmering carpets. 21 days are necessary to traditionally achieve those real masterpieces. But the prices are really low for those High Atlas artists and the Maghrebi magical way of weaving has now become an art in respite.
